This vineyard, situated on the hill Bucavac, 3 km south of Primošten, resembles lace and is often called stone lace. The small plots of soil, nourishing just a few grapevines, have frame-like stone borders of shallow drywalling to prevent erosion. This kind of land cultivation means that the plots can only be worked by hand. Because of this, the grape known as Babić, grown on Bucavac, is one of the most valued grape varieties in Croatia and this is not surprising not only because of the way it is cultivated, but also because of the small yield.
Babić grapes attain their perfect balance on this sunny position on Bucavac and have the potential of making the highest quality wine. The intoxicating fragrance emanating from the rough and rugged vines, together with the strenuous labour needed to grow them, illustrate how passionate the local people are about wine and how much respect they have for the land. The Babić from Bucavac is a wine of the highest quality and an ambassador of Primošten. One tasting overwhelms you with the richness of tradition, a breath of the Mediterranean and the strength of the sun, sea, wind and of man.
